When serving family law response papers do you serve them first, then file with proof of service?

If served first, do you also serve a personal proof of service with response papers & another to courts in Calif.

I am not brushing you off but this can be different from state to state and even county to county. The easiest way to get the right answer is to make quick phone call to the clerk of the court where you wish to file. The have these kinds of answers. Or you can call a family law attorney who gives “free consultations” and ask! Many are willing to help people with simple questions on the phone as long as the phone call only lasts a minute or two. Good luck!

It makes no difference…for a response, most people just serve and file with the proof, but you can just as easily file then serve and go back and file the proof of service.
