Catholic Charities, a service-providing arm of the Archdiocese of Washington, testifies before the DC Council on October 26, 2009. They state that same-sex marriage is incompatible with their religious beliefs. And that if gay men and lesbians are allowed to get married under a new law, they will no longer be able to provide services for health care, the homeless and child placement services. Councilman David Catania points out that their operating funds come from public tax dollars (75%), and that President & CEO Edward Orzechowski takes home a substantial salary ($268000 according to Washingtonian). Orzechowski says they will not provide health benefits to gay spouses, nor would they place children in the households of gay couples, even though they are currently required to do so for same-sex couples who are currently in domestic partnerships. In fact, they Archdiocese’s representatives indicate that they would like to have that provision repealed as well. Also, Catania has it on record that Catholic Charities has only provided 5% of the adoptions in DC last year — six of 102 wards of the city. He says he’s offended by their “take my ball and go home” attitude, that he alone fought for funding for the Council to fun Catholic Charities in the past, and that he’d like to work on a compromise but it would be difficult. Only the catholic church would rape children while telling those same boys that they will go to hell for masturbating. Catholic charities has no business at all having any view on gays or any sexual matter. You have lost all credibility.

By definition anything that occurs in nature is natural. Homosexual behavoir has been observed in 1,500 species & well documented in 500. The behavoirs observed are not just that of a sexual nature, but also include, courtship, affection, pair bonding, & parenting.
There are male and female everything, all capable of producing life after itself. This fact is not by chance. Like it or not, homosexuality does not involve procreation. If you think that’s hate speech, take it up with mother nature.

I was so ashamed of the US bishops when I heard this. I’m a cradle Catholic, and I FULLY support gay rights. Gay rights are human rights, the Church needs to WAKE UP and realize that Christianity is not in opposition with gay rights and full acceptance of the LGBT community.

Why do you feel the need to pick the “bad” verses out of the book and use them to approve of condeming a group of people to hate and discrimination. People need to keep in mind the bible was written by PEOPLE not God and can be interpreted in many different ways. The verse you’re referring to was written about Sodom, a city torn by war and sin, where soilders would rape one another to show superiorty and power. That’s what the verse condems.
