That’s a great video. I love pointing out the ridiculousness of having people vote on civil rights. The Irish Gaelic part was the cherry on top.

Love the number of likes over dislikes. Says alot about what people believe. Why is this not a past issue yet?

This is basically just a lovely, polite way of saying:

    None. Of. Your. Effing. Business.

Everyone who thinks marriage is a Christian institution should just GTFO.

Would it not be nice if we (adults) could decide who we love and who we want to spend the rest of our lives with. It’s hard enough to find someone who respects you and loves you for who you are…but then if you have to fight for it….that’s such a waste of your time and energy. I wish everybody could choose for them selves…that;s all we ask!

@MrFubbels Marriage is not a Christian constitution. Marriage existed before Christianity was invented and in areas of the world where there isn’t any Christianity.

Exactly, if marriage is so tied to religion and the bible, then how are non religious people allowed to marry. We have moved on as society, and it is time to go the next step, for marriage equality.

If only I had been old enough to vote in my state at the time. :(

From an American, that’s an impressive advert. I hope Ireland can be a leader in civil rights.

History was made in Albany today – wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!

“But here’s the thing about rights: they’re not actually supposed to be voted on. That’s why they’re called rights.”

Wow. Incredible video. I pity the people who aren’t the slightest bit moved.

    markzanyvideo December 21, 2011 at 8:51 pm

This is a great video – puts the point across really well, and no indication right until the end as to what it’s about, so you’re bound to watch the whole thing… well done, Marriage Equality!

    bohemianspiritmn December 21, 2011 at 9:10 pm

Excellent point! We’ll be sure to use it in the coming debate in Minnesota to stop the passage of the anti-gay-marriage amendment in 2012.

Very good video :) Love it!

    ersaamen December 21, 2011 at 9:32 pm

    This is brilliant!

Will people shut up about homosexuality influencing children and what not. It’s the 21st century, children can comprehend just about everything. I always knew my uncle was gay, and all that I thought was my uncle is happy, not I should follow in his footsteps. Homosexuality is natural, and the gay population has my vote on same sex marriage!

    fixedstarsrise December 21, 2011 at 10:13 pm

You can rediscover an ancient knowledge of an awareness of the role of homosexuality upon human evolution in the new book, “Fixed Stars Rise,” and at wwwdotfixedstarsrisingdotblogspotdotcom

This engages the imagination of the viewer: First, I asked myself, why the boy so nervous. Secondly, I asked myself, why the asked give their permission without more discussion. Thirdly, I asked myself why the boy is asking more than two people. Fourthly, I asked myself are Sinead’s parents divorced and remarried and is he asking Sinead’s step parents as well. Fifthly, is the young man playing a joke asking for the hand of every parent with a daughter named Sinead, is he mad? Effective!

@phxflyguy No, that’s not her. The actress is much younger, Baxter is 63 now. This is an Irish ad, why would they use an American actress?

    phxflyguy December 22, 2011 at 12:20 am

Is that Meredith Baxter at 0:25? Sure looks like her…

    qwertylunatique December 22, 2011 at 12:48 am

Perfectly put. Not too angry or plaintive

    Caterfree10 December 22, 2011 at 1:18 am

37 people should go ask their country’s total population if they can get married. :P

    swfrances December 22, 2011 at 2:06 am

Very provocative message… our Irish brothers and sisters who love and want to marry someone of their own sex must get the permission of 4,000,000 Irish citizens… Here in the USA, we have to get the permission of 311,092,153…

    chazzyslinkinlady December 22, 2011 at 3:04 am
